Cache is not at the posted cords.
How many times have you pulled up to the crash barrier and
moaned, “Oh, it’s a guardrail” and had the hide in hand seconds
later? Hey, I love racking up numbers as much as the next guy, but
after a long day of caching, there is always one cache which stands
out as memorable. Maybe it was creative, challenging or made you
chuckle.
After this series, hopefully, you will never look at a guardrail
in the same way again.
I have a general philosophy on hiding caches. I like to create
challenges for the advanced cacher and stimulate my creative
juices. I try to offer something new, try not to repeat hides I’ve
done, or try to bring you to a nice place, or at least create an
interesting scenario (or some combination thereof).
Doing a creative guardrail series seemed a real challenge for
me, so I decided to try. Each of the 6 in the series will most
likely be hides you haven’t seen before. Some of you may find them
quickly, but I expect a number of DNF’s as well (no kicking — you
know who you are!).
At each stage you will find a number somewhere in the cache.
Those 6 numbers will be 48° DC.ABC 122° DC.DEF for the final hide
but you will not be told what order they are in. You can guess, if
you like, but for the “TRUE” FTF you must find and have logged all
8. Oh, right — there is one more. The 7th hide will give you the
order (called the “KEY”) of the numbers — but not the numbers. You
don’t need to be FTF on all 7, just have logged them and then be
FTF on the final.
There is considerable distance between the stages so many of you
will be doing this over time, but it can be easily done in less
than a day — IF you don’t spend too much time at any one
place.
Therefore, I have decided to offer a special prize to the “TRUE
FTF”, an unactivated XLE GOLD Rey
del Roble RACE FOR CACHE
geocoin.
I will ask that you E-mail me for the activation code to verify
your “TRUE FTF”.
I have never released one of these coins in the wild and this will
probably be the only one that I ever do release.
I will also place 2 other desirable unactivated geocoins for 2nd
and 3rd to find (Anthus Firefighter & Scotland) and of course
an FTF wooden nickel and a few bison tubes.
If you find the cache hide it as well as you
found it.
Have fun and as always beware of snooping eyes.
It is always a good idea to have a writing instrument with you.
No need to go into the road or stop on the road.
Please be careful with each cache and return it EXACTLY as you found it.
Finally, please let me know if there are problems with either the
cache or its coordinates.
