Divine Divide
Looking for a little peace and quiet after a very hectic day, I
decided to take a little retreat into the Mountains after work.
After a 10 minute drive up Old San Marcos road I arrived at the
top, near the junction with highway 154. There I saw a gate and
decided to take a walk beyond. I followed a narrow winding trail
through the Chaparral for about 1/4 mile and finally arrived at a
little promontory someone had cleared and lined with stones. Before
me was a spectacular view of Santa Barbara to the East and Goleta
to the West and the Blue Pacific to the South. A great discovery I
would like to share with you all.
To the East you see the headwaters of Maria Ygnacio creek, to
the West is San Jose creek. Eventually they will meet in the Goleta
Slough, near Goleta Beach where they flow into the mighty Pacific.
I was lucky to have a small cache prepared in my pack which I have
hid here for you. Enjoy the Sunset......or Sunrise. I left totally
relaxed, a great way to end the day.
Please respect the efforts of whoever designed this trail and
beautifull vantage point and keep it clean. Please start at the
trailhead and stay on the trail, resist the temtation to
bushwack a shortcut. There is some Poison Oak in the area.
