Geocache Description:

A medium sized water tight container hidden inside Occoneechee State Park near Clarksville, Virginia.

This water tight container is hidden off of the Panhandle Multi-use Trail, inside the abandoned A section of the campground.

Occoneechee State Park is one of our favorite campgrounds. If you have time you might want to also hike the Terrace Garden trail while you are in the park. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the day. Better yet bring your camping gear and stay a night or two. Virginia State Parks are awesome and you will definitely enjoy your stay.

Hunting is allowed in this park during hunting season. If you are on the multi-use trail during hunting season you need to wear blaze orange and make lots of human-like noises.

See the park's website (visit link) for the parking fee (currently $2 and paid at the front gate, usually on the honor system). Please abide by all parking rules. You must either park at the head of the Panhandle Trail and walk in (a rather leisurely 2 mile hike), or perhaps have someone drop you off at the gate of the old A campground. Parking at the A campground gate is not allowed and your car may be towed and will result in this cache being removed.

If you are on Kerr Lake near Clarksville, you can also access this cache by boat and a short hike up to the cache.

Please, please, please make sure the container is sealed properly when you are finished. Both clasps must be securely latched to keep water out.

You do not need to bushwhack to find this cache. The entire hike will be on well maintained trails and a paved road, with a very short walk into the woods to find the cache. Bushwhacking is possible but not recommended and will take you much longer to reach the cache.

Keep in mind that ticks and snakes live in this park, too. Be prepared to encounter them if you visit in warm weather.

I placed the cache with my best friend Dale and my daughter, Melissa. Hence the name ADM Cache.

Enjoy the park and be safe!
