The J.I. Case Wetlands are located just east of what most
consider Hawthorne Park. These wetlands are a preserve, and are
actually part of the Hawthorn Park property. This is a VERY
interesting area, which is why I placed this cache here. Be sure to
walk around and check out the short trail into the water, and the
long trail around the west side of the wetlands. Fishing is
permitted (and you will see people fishing!), and at times hunting
(geese anyway) is allowed. Overall this is just a nice place to
visit and investigate! This is one of 2 or 3 caches I plan to place
in this area. This one I consider the "easy intro" cache, the
others should be a bit more interesting >:-}
Note: This is a wetlands area! At some times of the year the
area around the cache may not be dry! At this time it is fairly
dry, but there is still a lot of soft ground on the way to the
cache! Im guessing during the spring or any rainy time you may need
to be very careful when retrieving the cache or prepare to get
wet!
All Vigo County parks are open from dawn to dusk, this one is no
exception. Please observe all standard park rules. There is a nice
parking area off of Old Maple, and a big sign at the parking
lot.
Local area cachers, be sure to check
