This is a quick cache that will take under an hour to find. It’s all easy walking, on pavement until the very end, where there could be a bit of a hill and some plant growth.
The posted coordinates are for the Georgetown Memorial Arena. Lots of accessible parking…unless you decide to come during a hockey game. This is the older arena in Georgetown, the one I remember bundling up and going to as a little kid. (Not that that was too long ago…) Between September 30 and March 25, there are various public, preschool, and adult skates that are great fun.
All the first stages are on signs and other various places around the building. None of the clues are farther than twenty meters from the arena, so it shouldn’t be too hard.
A – Sharing the building with Memorial Arena is the Aikaido martial arts place. What are the last four digits on their phone number?
B – There are signs all over the Arena where no parking is available due to Emergency Access routes. What’s the bylaw number that made this rule? Take the last three digits of that number.
C – At the front doors to the arena, there is a large bronze sign hanging above them. How many letters are on that sign?
D – Around the left side of the building, where the entrance to the parking lot is, there is a staircase that leads to the roof. How many stairs are on it?
E – Winter can be a hazardous time to park near the Memorial Arena… Find the sign on the building that explains why and count the number of characters on it.
F – Overnight parking is prohibited here. How many hours is overnight?
G – At the back is a big blue door with yellow letters on it. This is the door that the zamboni comes out of to dump the ice shavings. How many horizontal blue panels are on the door?
When you have all the numbers, add together A, B, and C. (If you take the digits of this number and add them together, they should equal 13) Take this number, divide it by 1000, and add it to N 43 37.674
Add together D, E, F, and G. (If you take the digits of this number and add them together, they should equal 14) Take this number, divide by 1000, and subtract from W 079 55.564
This will give you the coordinates for the final. Be careful when going down the hill to get there if you have little children. There is an easier way to get around, but it’s a slightly longer walk. The cache is a small plastic container with room for a few small items. There is also a Tim Hortons Gift Certificate for the First to Find
