Geocache Description:

Another ammo can in Eighteenmile Creek Park.
This one is in the bottom of the gorge.

I spotted this area from the top yesterday while hiding Bones. I just knew I had to make the return trip today.

When I arrived in the area I sat down to soak in the peace and quiet. As I sat there I lost track of time. After about twenty minutes or so I started to think that this wasn't why I was here and that I had better get to hiding the cache. Then I thought that HEY, this is exactly why I am here. It occurred to me that this was exactly why I geocache, to enjoy the moment and the place.

The title of this cache is just how I feel. You are welcome to log as you feel. there is no requirement to log why you cache. There is also no restriction preventing it.

The cache itself is a fairly tough hike. I made the trip along the edge of the creek. Be careful as the rocks are wet and can get slippery at times. I recommend that you wear good sturdy hiking boots. In the warmer weather you could probably wear less substantial footwear and walk in the creek. A good place to start your trek would be below Geo's Eighteenmile Creek Gorge cache(GCF619). It's the safest access I know to the lower gorge.

This park has some impressive cliffs. They make for great views, but could also make for a serious fall. Watch your step and keep an eye on the young ones. As you pass under them along the creek remember that those large rocks you see at the bottom of the gorge used to be much higher up. The point here is to be careful.

DO NOT try this one at night, The trail should be safe, as long as you can see it.

---------------------------------------------------------------
The parking restriction has been lifted. There is now a DEC fishing access parking area in place.

---------------------------------------------------------------

The word on the street is that parking restrictions at the upper end of the trail are being enforced. Park there at your own risk! I will say that every time I go there I find one or more cars parked in that spot and never a ticket. That doesn't mean they don't hand them out. If you know the co-ords for the alternate parking please let me know.
Thanks to the Hiking Cockroaches for the heads up.
According to Dr. Evil 1 "I parked by don't park here because it seemed like everyone else was, and I didn't get a ticket either. If you don't want to take the chance, it looked like there were six or seven cars parked across the creek at about N42 42.070 W78 54.302. From the number of trout fishermen in that area, I can only assume there must be a fishing acess trail leading down from there."

First on the seen was The Kaiserfamily.
Nicely done!
