Planet of Hoth Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

LostBoy1: Its time for me to archive many of my caches. I have left the area for military service and haven't really found other motivated cachers to help with the maintenance of many of my caches. Thus its better to close this chapter. So this is the end to an era, it has been fun and thank you to everyone who has found my caches.

Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a series of Geocaches dedicated to Star Wars. Located in Mt. Toby State park, one will find this mission a true test of their geocaching skills. Do you have what it takes to prove that you are a true Jedi Master Geocacher? We shall see. SO far there are 4 of these caches in this series.

Hoth is the sixth planet in the remote system of the same name. It is a world of snow and ice, surrounded by numerous moons. Small meteorites that have wandered away from a nearby asteroid field constantly pelt Hoth's icy surface. This icy world has developed a number of indigenous life forms, including the wampa ice creature, and the tauntaun. The daytime temperatures of Hoth were bearable for properly dressed humans, but the Hoth nights are too hostile even for the native creatures.

Hoth was the home of the Echo base. The nerve center of Echo Base was its darkened command center, where General Rieekan issued orders to the rest of his troops. Here, Alliance scanner operators carefully monitored incoming data from the scattered sensors placed by Rebel scouts in the Hoth wilderness.

The location of this cache is nearby to the summit of Mt. Toby where another rebel base is located. One that is owned and operated by the state. You will find this cache just off the trail. It is nestled under a large downed tree that makes a good spot to log your find and exchange your trackables.

Parking cords. Are listed and the trail starts nearby. The trail is actually an access road used to get to the fire tower at the summit. The road/trail is wide and has a nice gradual climb. My suggestion is to take the road/trail to the top and from there use the Powerlines trail to return back to your vehicle. By doing so you can grab all the caches in one trek. GPS signal here is a bit jumpy in some areas due to the tree cover.

Please follow the rules of Exchange. Trade Equal, UP or don’t trade at all! If you take a trackable, then LEAVE ONE! If you do not have a trackable to leave then simply DISCOVER the one that is in the cache. Photos of your journey are strongly encouraged. Thanks for your interest in my caches!
