The Geeks: I have been notified that there is construction nearby and the cache is at some risk. I will place a new one when I get an opportunity. Later today I will retrieve it and check it for travel bugs. If I find any, I will move them on asap.

As far as I know Katey was never found.

Geocache Description:

This one is on an old rail line that runs north and south parallel to highway 24. There is a path to the trail from the Arby’s parking lot on highway 3. The walking is easy enough, but when you get to the cache you may have to climb a bit, hence the 2 rating. You can get closer by car, but you may look suspicious in the parking lot behind a business. Be careful of the debris in the area. I grabbed a section of rebar thinking it was a stick.

I named it Katey’s Cache after a dog that has been missing in the area. This dog has been missing for some time. Katey is a pug and is "fawn with a black face and ears". She has been spotted repeatedly, for the past few months, near Tim Hortons, behind Harvey’s and near the old airport. People have tried calling her (Katie), but she is frightened and runs away. Perhaps a shouted command, like sit or stay and a slow approach would do it. Maybe a playful tone and the throwing of a stick would gain her trust.

I am creating this cache in the hopes of bringing a few more people to the vicinity. Who knows, maybe someone will find her. Here is the link to a thread on Kwic Internet talking about Katey.

If someone does find her and manages to catch her, you can look on that forum for the phone number of the owner. It is too bad that this section of the trail is a mess. Next time I go in I’ll bring a bag to carry out garbage. There is an FTF prize and it can be used at the nearby Tim Horton’s when you are done. The cache is a small plastic container (4 X 4 X 3. It has room for the usual small stuff.
