4 Elements (2nd
Edition)
In ancient times, considerable note was
made of understanding the elements, for these were considered the
building bricks of the Universe, and hence many believed that these
were also part of the basic structure of themselves and humanity
would perish if one of these elements were missing. Maybe they are
right. Every day we warm ourselves by Fire, wash ourselves in
Water, feel the Wind in our hair and walk upon the
Earth.

Earth is element of the everyday
hero, the hunter, the chieftain, and the mother. The element of
abiding patience, of abundance. Earth teaches us how to care for
ourselves. Earth is the establishment we rebelled against in our
youth. But also is the element to which we return when we realize
how important our connection to home and family can be. It is the
element with which we define our home, our family, our planet, our
Selves. Earth gets things done.
Earth is the element of
self-recognition. Encourages us to achieve. It shows us the sacred
duties inherent in being human in its fullest potential. Is the
element of sacred choice that comes with the acceptance of
personal, spiritual destiny. It is the full understanding of the
forms we have chosen for our lives and for the life of our planet.
Earth is the element with which we assume authority and
responsibility in our own lives, and in so doing, become the
creators of our own destiny.
Earth is the element by
which we regain our connection to natural spiritual wisdom. The
revealed truth that comes to us unmasked, as we face our lives
directly, head on, for what they truly are. Earth teaches us the
ancient rites of power, the secret ceremonies that connect us to
the real inner workings of what we call magic. The element of
celebration, ceremony, and ritual traditions.
It is the energy of those
special moments when we know that what we're working for is truly
worthwhile, humble gratitude. It is the grace of accepting the
experiences of our lives as part of a greater pattern. Earth
teaches us to relax and enjoy our lives. Shows us how to make that
routine become ceremonial rituals of honour.
Earth is the element of magnetic force, the
inner compass. It always remembers the way home. The element of
endurance. It sustains us so long as we do not strain its material
limitations.
Earth is the ancient keystone of
power.

Air is the element of
communication. The power of perception and the medium of mental
expansion. The element of inspiration and the creative force of the
intellect expressing the mind of humankind. The element of focus in
the midst of chaos, the sharpened awareness of clear thought and
the sure strength of concentration. The element of illumination.
The means by which we may receive and transmit messages of
enlightenment.
Air is the element of
consciousness, receptive flexibility of awareness, the element of
imagination. Allows us the luxury of being able to think before we
speak, before we act, before we acquiesce. The inalienable right of
free-mind in humankind. The freedom of choice unbound, unlimited,
unpatentable, and unimpeachable. And the element with which we may
open or close our minds as we choose to do.
It is the wing and the
prayer on which we must sometimes make our way home. The profound
power of positive thought. The expansion into realms as yet
unknown.
The connection to the universal, mythic
experience.

Fire creates the spiritual warrior
in service to the highest light of truth. It is the force that
brings us to the true purposes of our lives. Fire bestows courage
through trials of strength and faith. Clears the path that begins
and ends with the Self. It consumes all our obstacles to faith and
trust. Fire gives us strength and courage to fight for the
preservation of quality in life.
Fire inspires us to
connect with others in mundane, worldly ways as well as in
Otherworldly ways. It gives us the need to offer and accept the
power of touch. Enables us to charge and recharge our energies
through physical sensations and experiences. It is the element of
physical challenges and sexual energies.
Fire forges us as living
swords of power in service to the highest light. It keeps the
creation fires of our being alive and energizes the alchemy that is
our essential, personal Self. Fire initially provides us with the
energies of rebellion and then refines it into a revolutionary
spirit. It hones our blade through the positive expressions of
faith, courage, and strength. Fire requires a purity of purpose and
of heart from its warriors.
Fire shows us our
strengths by revealing our vulnerabilities. It is force. It is

Water will suddenly
shower us with an outburst of cleansing emotions or the

bloated and dependent. But it can clean out and create a thirst for
new adventures in self-exploration.
Water is the element of
healing counsel. Is the element of emotional release. Provides us
with an internal barometer, a temperature gauge, and a measuring
cup. Water is unconditional love, positive self regard and pure
emotional understanding. Water sweeps us out from inside ourselves.
It forces us to face our personal realities, to reveal our inner
realms of being, if only to ourselves. Water is the element of
naked truth. Water is the vessel that carries us to mystic realms
of inner magic.
Water rocks us to sleep
with a lyrical lullaby. Is the element of dreams. It sounds the
alarm insistently when we succumb to slumbering for too
long.
Water is the mist, the fog, the storm that
leads us to the place where we may meet our Selves.
