Perfect 90? Traditional Cache
Loosahatchie: I was hoping to relocate this cache, and retain its continuity. But, since that hasn't happened yet; it's time to archive this one permanently. If Perfect 90? reappears, it will have to be as a new and different cache.

Maybe it is a perfect 90 on some GPS receivers, under certain conditions at certain times. You should find it very, very close to the 90th Meridian. It is accessible through an open area not far from a drive where signs now prohibit curb-side parking. There is a choice of parking lots within about 500 feet of the cache. One of these is on the opposite side of the drive, the area subject to video surveillance. Avoid the roadway of I-55; and don't search on the wrong side of its fence!
The cache is a plastic Lock and Lock container wrapped with duct tape, with room for only a few quite small trade items.
The purpose of this cache location is to draw attention to the 90th Meridian, the centerline of the western hemisphere. As you know, meridians are arcs which extend halfway around the world from the North Pole to the South Pole. Worldwide measurement of the east and west dimension is based from a Zero (aka Prime) Meridian that passes through an observatory in Greenwich, a suburb of London.
Where this cache is located, and in lots of places to its north and south, the 90th Meridian signifies locations that are exactly 1/4 of the distance around the globe from the Prime Meridian. That means the noonday sun takes exactly 6 hours (1/4 of a day) to proceed from the Prime (or Zero) Meridian to the 90th. It should be no surprise then that the 90th Meridian marks the center of the Central Time Zone, where the clocks are kept exactly 6 hours behind "Greenwich Mean Time"
So in some sense this cache sits on one of the major beams that make up the geodetic framework of the world.
