Top of Vlakkenberg Peak
Vlakkenberg is the flattish mountain (from there the name Vlakkenberg, meaning flat mountain in Afrikaans) between Constantia Nek and Constantiaberg (with its masts and towers on top). There are a few different ways to get up to the cache. One from Constantia Nek where the path to Vlakkenberg starts just down the Hout Bay Road through an imposing fence and NO LONGER through the gated community called Silvermist, the second from the top of Price Drive in Constantia and thirdly, the longer option, from the manganese mine ridge above Hout Bay.
On a clear day you can see from the slopes of Devil’s Peak, the whole of the Cape flats below and round to False Bay and all the way down to Cape Hangklip, over the other side little Lion’s Head above Hout Bay and Llandudno.
the above coordinates are for the beacon on Vlakkenberg - the cache is found at S34 01.647 E18 23.914
