Greenville Restauranteur Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

CantSpellPLC: The area where the final stage was hidden has been re-landscaped by the property owner and the cache has disappeared.

While I liked the concept of showing you a bunch of restaurants around town, it seemed to be more effort than most people were willing to expend to get just one smiley, so I will archive this cache.

Geocache Description:

The listed coordinates are for the first stage of this multi. You'll have to visit the first six locations to get information for the final coordinates. That's why the difficulty is 2.5. The terrain is easy, except for one staircase at the first location.

I won an ammo box at the September 2006 SCGCA meeting, so I figured I had to release it back into the wilds. You can find it by taking a “Restaurant Tour” to some of my favorite eating establishments, collecting clues to the final location along the way. You may even find a new favorite place to eat during your journey. Enjoy! (Disclosure: I have NO financial interest in any of these locations – I just enjoy frequenting them.) The total distance of this tour is just over 10 miles.

Among other trade items, I plan to keep the cache stocked with a variety of restaurant coupons. Please take only one per visit, and if you have any restaurant coupons that you don’t intend to use, leave them for others. Feel free to return often to trade.

The listed cache coordinates take you to a trendy downtown restOrant where I often have a cocktail. Add together the digits of the street address to calculate coordinate letter A.

For a taste of the East, go to N 34° 50.564’ W 82° 21.814’. The food is very flavorful, but not necessarily hot. If you WANT hot, try the vindaloo! The number of flavors of paratha bread is coordinate letter B. (Hours: 11:30am - 3:00pm and 5:00pm - 10:00pm every day)

The next stop is for those who want to try something truly different. At N 34° 50.617’, W 82° 20.591’ you may find the likes of buffalo, emu, alligator, elk, rabbit, or who knows what other critters on the menu. The selection changes frequently, so return often. Outside, you will find a bear holding a sign. The number of words on the sign is coordinate letter C.

For a deli-ghtful meal, visit N 34° 50.908’, W 82° 20.207’. Their New Orleans Muffaletta is true to the original, and you can help yourself to free ice cream after every meal. The number of individual flavors of ice cream (not including swirled flavors) is coordinate letter D. (Hours: 10:00am - 10:00pm every day)

A culinary tour wouldn’t be complete without a wing stop. N 34° 50.612’, W 82° 19.230’ is where I go nearly every week for my fix. The number of peppers assigned to the New York Hot flavored wings is coordinate letter E. (Hours: Sunday - Friday 11:30am - 2:00am, Saturday 11:30am - Midnight.)

Finally, stop by N 34°49.232’, W 82° 16.671’ for some terrific seafood. The fish is generally served boneless, but the one on the sign still has several bones in it. The number of neural spine bones (or haemal spine bones, but not both) is coordinate letter F.

Now that you’re stuffed, it’s time to find the cache. The final location is:

N 34° 49.CBF
W 82° 16.EDA

The cache is accessible from the parking lot and available 24/7. Tighten your belt to help you look stealthier after eating all that good food, as there are many muggles about.

*** Update 02/03/07 ***
The original container was muggled and has been replaced with a 1 liter Lock & Lock. Please be very stealthy, and re-hide it well.

*** Update 01/01/2009 ***
The original clue for coordinate A follows for historical perspective, but the restaurant has since closed for refurbishing, so I replaced the clue with something more permanent.

"Go to the UPSTAIRS bar, order a drink if you like, and visit with the friendly bartenders. During your conversation, or as a starter, ask Kristin, Emmi, Jill or whoever else happens to be working the bar, what Ed’s favorite liquor is. From their answer, you should be able to figure out coordinate letter A. (Hours: Monday – Thursday 5:30 – 10:00, Friday - Saturday 5:30 – 11:00, Closed Sundays)"

What is YOUR favorite restaurant?
