RECYCLEDCaliforniaTrashCache@TwinLakes
The original California Trash Cache was hidden on 1/8/02 in Twin
Lakes Park by Poison Spider and Mike as the park held memories of
their Aunt and her granddaughter who walked along the paths many
times. Being in Pittsburgh to see the last Steeler's game of the
2001 season they thought this would be the time to place their
cache.
This cache is a replacement for their archived cache. See their
original cache page
here. The cache had several DNFs logged and had many cachers
doing the Drunken Bee Dance on that rocky hillside. Last found on
9/4/04 followed by several DNFs the cache was finally archived on
1/5/05 due to lack of owner's response to maintenance and for being
a vacation placed cache.
Nearly two years after the archiving of the original cache I
stumbled upon the cache listing and became interested. Seeing that
the cache was never really listed as being missing but just needing
to be checked on there was maybe just the possibility that this one
could still be there. A challenge. And lo and behold the cache.
Still dry and in very good condition after two years of sitting on
that hillside. NOW THIS WAS ONE CACHE THAT WASN'T GOING TO GIVE UP.
So for this odd reason and for the chance for past cachers who
didn't find the original cache I have RECYCLED the original
cache.
The contents of this cache actually contains the original Black
Trash Can container and the trade items that were in the cache when
found thus RECYCLED. More trade items have been added and a new log
book has replaced the original ones. It has been placed inside a
larger container. Keep the contents of the cache in the original
Black Trash Can container and be sure to replace it back into the
larger container. Make sure the lid is secure and rehide.

RECOMMENDED PARKING AND TRAILHEAD
N 40 19.232 W 079 28.277
Begin your hunt by parking at the East Parking Area off of Twin
Lakes Road. Find the trailhead for the Wilderness Trail and follow
your GPS on up the trail. A short distance up the trail from the
bridge you will come to a Y in the trail. The trail makes a loop so
you will eventually come back to here no matter which way you take.
Left will take you up around by an old abandoned RR grade while the
right trail will take you down along the stream. Minimal
bushwacking to the cache is required if you stay on trail till the
last few feet. (The Difficulty Rating for this cache is no where
near that of the original cache.) After finding the cache be sure
to continue on out around the trail and do the whole loop. Makes
for a nice hike. We hope you enjoy the cache.
