Great Park? (Auckland) Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Zero Gravitas: As this cache has been out of action for too long, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Our first multi in our favourite (and nearest) regional park, Long Bay. The cache isn't that difficult but there may be a problem doing it covertly.

We thought we would place a cache here while it is still possible to admire Long Bay Regional Park without having to avoid looking at the housing which will possibly be going up on the green hills surrounding it, if the developers have their way.

The Long Bay-Okura Great Park Society is trying to stop such intensive housing in such a sensitive area. Visit their website here - (visit link)

ARC are also developing a concept plan for the future of Long Bay, which incorporates the developers plans. See their website here - (visit link)

Whether you agree for the housing plans or not, Long Bay is definitely one of the most popular public reserves in Auckland. Which is what will make hunting for the cache and its micros more complicated!

There are 4 stages to this multi. The 1st container is a black Eclipse container. The 2nd waypoint is a camo coved film canister. The 3rd is a camo container. The final cache is a small round screw lid container which is in a very snug wooden hiding place. The reception at the final isn't very good so the clue may help.

The cache is family friendly and it is possible to drive up fairly near to most of the waypoints. There is also a popular childrens park nearby.

The cache when placed contained -
Logbook and pencil
Various bit and pieces
Jordan TB
and our personal geocoin starting out on its journey.

Please watch out, the gates close at 9pm in the summertime.

*** Due to the number of DNF's we've increased the difficulty rating and given better clues. ****
