Lucchio è un vero e proprio “tesoro nascosto”, un paese poco
conosciuto, ma di una bellezza straordinaria, che ha mantenuto
intatta la sua architettura medievale.
Per arrivarci si può
percorrere la strada “dell’Abetone e del Brennero” che collega
Lucca alle montagne pistoiesi e modenesi e, all’altezza di
Tana a Termini, si devia verso i monti delle Pizzorne; dopo
appena tre chilometri si scopre il Paese, aggrappato alla
roccia, sormontato da un’antica fortezza.
Un agglomerato urbano che fa da corona alla fortezza, costituito
da case alte e strette, addossate l’una all’altra, con muri tutti
costruiti in pietra calcarea, senza cemento, che poggiano
direttamente sulla roccia del monte. Le abitazioni hanno l’ingresso
al secondo, terzo e, talora, all’ultimo piano, tutte con finestre
che si affacciano sulla stupenda vallata.
Si trova a quota 670 mt. s.l.m., contornato da monti più alti (la
Penna 1176 mt., il Memoriante 1151 mt.) lussureggianti di
vegetazione, composta in prevalenza da castagni. Per la sua
collocazione geografica gode di un clima eccezionalmente mite,
ideale per la villeggiatura.
La cache consiste di due tappe, e la prima si trova a N 44°
02.AAA E 010° 42.(B+C)D(B+C). Per completare queste coordinate
occorre rispondere alle seguenti domande:

La vecchia cache
In data 27 giugno 2007 la cache è stata modificata. È stata
piazzata una nuova cache finale (ad una nuova posizione), ma anche
quella vecchia c'è ancora. Chi riesce a trovare anche la vecchia
cache, potrà loggare due Find per questa cache, ed è pregato di
rimuovere fisicamente la vecchia cache. Per indizi leggere e/o

The village of Lucchio clings precariously to the side of a
steep hill. It blends so well with the surrounding landscape, that
while travelling along the road which wends its way round the base
of the hill, it is almost impossible to see it.
Lucchio is a quaint village which is well worth a visit. To begin,
one has to drive the steep tree and flower lined road to the
carpark at the entance to the village of Lucchio. From the carpark,
the only transport is by foot and once inside you can see why -
there simply is no room for vehicles along the narrow streets/paths
which wind past the tightly clustered houses. From the fortress
ruins which sit high above Lucchio there are stunning views of the
valley and mountains which surround the village.
Developed in Middle-age and Renaissance in a strategic position
(on the boundaries between Florence and Lucca) dominated by a
castle, Lucchio is a settlement made of stone surrounded by woods
and mountains.
The landscape has been modeled along centuries by human activities
tied to a subsistence economy: cultivation of chestnut threes and,
shepherdesses, hunt.
In the XX century the hard relationship between man and nature here
has been redefined: inhabitants emigrated to bigger cities to work
in factories; the population passed from about 800 inhabitants (in
1930) to the current 50; two mines, an hydroelectric energy
production plant and an interregional waste compost plant have
grown near the settlement.
Only in summer Lucchio is a little more populated, by emigrants
coming back home for holidays or by foreigners that bought and
repaired some houses.
The cache consists of two stages, the first one of which is
located at N 44° 02.AAA E 010° 42.(B+C)D(B+C). To complete
these coordinates you need to find the answers to the following
