John Mullins, Jr. was born in 1785 in the Toe River area of Mitchell County, NC. As a true mountain man he traveled on long hunting expeditions into Eastern Kentucky, Southwestern Virginia, and Eastern Tennessee. In 1829 he and his wife Ollie Cox moved their family to the Holly Creek area which is now Clintwood. They were the first to permanently settle the area. John Mullins Jr. eventually brought his father, "Revolutionary" John Mullins Sr,. to live in Holly Creek until his death. Revolutionary John Mullins faught with Col. William Campbell during the Battle of Kings Mountain, defeating British Major Patrick Ferguson's 900 Loyalists, a crucial turning point in the Revolutionary War.

As with many people in the area, we are proud to be direct descendants of these fine men.

Cache is a 9x7x3 clear sterlite container with blue lid. Original contents is a few rubber critters, small card game, log book w/ pencil, and Play-doh.
