On Sunday morning I took the dogs for a run at Cat Point. On my
way back to the truck I saw some funny tracks in the sand. Never
saw any like them and all I could think was that they had been made
by a man running barefoot through the sand. A heavily imprinted
forefoot but no heel. Then I thought there must be two men cause
the tracks were too close for 1 man running. On the way home I
discovered the truth when I encountered a beautiful black bear
crossing the road. He sat down in the middle and we stared at each
other for a while. Apparently these animals have been displaced by
developers clearing unsold land, which still remains unsold years
later. The folks in East Point and Carrabelle feel that the bears
are a problem. I don't think the bears are the problem myself.
Think about it. This cache is dedicated to the bears.
Epilogue. In December, at the entry to this parking a bear was
struck and injured by a car. She had to be destroyed.
