Creekside Creak Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

antsyfanny: Due to the number of disturbances to this cache since the county cleared out the surrounding underbrush a couple years ago, I have decided it is time to retire Creekside Creak. The spot has been muggled consistently in the past year and this disruption in the function of the cache has become a disappointment not only to me as the owner, but more importantly to those who are seeking it and not able to find it or are finding it in disrepair.

There are muggles - probably kids or teens - in the area who know where it is so the specific spot is no longer a viable cache site. Many thanks to those kind cachers who, upon finding it muggled yet again, have tried to replace stolen logs, trinkets or the entire cache container itself over the past year. I visited one last time this morning and there was nothing to be found, so with that I am disabling it for good. It is a lovely spot and it is my hope that someone else will place a cache in the area so that others can continue to be drawn to the river and the trail.

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

Though a bit more than just a creek, there is water flowing near this wooded trail. Strollers and wheelchairs will not work here. In the spring, the area may at certain times be too wet to access without getting totally soaked or stuck in the mud. When dry, which is most days, it is a delightful trail.

The cache is in a smaller tupperware container and contains a logbook, cache explanation note, and a few trinkets. Please bring a pencil or pen to sign the logbook and toss some leaves or something over it when you're done so it's not visible - Thanks!

You can do this cache in a pretty quick, but dull fashion, or you can enter the trail just south of the river bridge railing on Hwy. 100 across from the entrance to Currie Park. It's much more beautiful and rewarding that way. Keep an eye out for deer, ducks and the occasional great blue heron.

Some have noted the coordinates are off, but I have checked it and averaged out my findings after multiple tries. It can be difficult to get accurate readings under trees, but be warned that you may have to search a bit when the trees are in full leaf. : )

Update on 11-30-11: Another kind cacher tells me this cache has had some trouble with muggles, but it seems to be okay for now. The underbrush in this area was really cut back by the city in the last couple years so the location is now more open and vulnerable to this sort of thing, so please be careful when non-cachers are around. Thanks!
