Geocache Description:

We urban ants spend a lot of time in the inner city and we want to introduce you to some of the interesting parks we have discovered.

Originally this area was owned by Dr. Neville Lindsay, Calgary's first resident physician and surgeon.  It was annexed to the City of Calgary in 1910 and named Parkhill after the escarpment which forms two sides of the community overlooking the Elbow River. The community was one of the first in the city to support new infill houses on 25 foot lots resulting in an interesting mix of original 1910 - 1920's housing and at least one example of every style of infill house.

If you are exploring the area be sure to look at 1A street, called "Architecture Alley" by some for its variety of housing styles.

Also worth a look is the former Parkhill Elementary School at 3650 2nd Street.  Built in 1912 it was closed in 1977 and redeveloped in 1987 as 4 condominium units.  The new houses to either side were built on the playgrounds.

The cache area green space has a spectacular view of downtown, bring your camera for those tourist shots.

The cache is a small zip lock screw top container, if the container can keep salsa off the white carpet, it should be able to keep the cache contents dry. The cache contains a FTF certificate and gift, a logbook and SWAG.
