Off the paved trail, steep climb, not for real young ones. Elevation register @ 500 ft.
Original container was a small glad/tupperware container - CCCC replaced on April 8th, 2007 with a green medium ammo container. It's hidden pretty well in the brush. You've got to do some good climbing to get to this one. It may be difficult in the rain or muddy conditions. Great view of the lake up here though!
Located at the Lafayette Reservoir.
The Lafayette Reservoir is located off Mt. Diablo Boulevard on the west end of Lafayette. Completed in 1933 the reservoir is a standby supply of drinking water for East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) customers.
There is a $6.00 per vehicle entrance fee for parking; however, you can use the metered parking which is 25 cents per 15 minutes (maximum two hours).
