Geocache Description:

Take Camp 19 Road - North from Highway 17 - until you see the Pic River

The cache is located off the road to Camp 19. Once you go past the straight section of gravel road (i.e. past Marathon Pulp Inc.'s Landfill site), continue down the road to the cache area. This part of the road is also part of the OFSC Goodchild Trail. From the cache location, the road continues ~1.5 km. down to the landing on the Little Pic River. This area was once the location of American Can's logging camp - Camp 19, many, many years ago. At the cache location, you have a great overview of the Pic River. This river was used by the pulp mill in Marathon for the spring log drive until 1983 when the last river drive occurred. The logs were collected at the mouth of the Pic River (on Lake Superior). Then the logs were put into log booms and towed by barges to the pulp mill in Marathon. The original cache contents consisted of the logbook and pencil, several children's toys (Big Red Dog), a couple of toy cars, 2-3 compass keychains, 4 original RCMP Musical Ride Cards and a Lions Club of Marathon Free Ticket
