Geocache Description:

Urban area, however, final location is close to water - beware when caching with children & pets

Wolverton ( and New Bradwell) were built for the workers at the new railway works in the late 1890s.
The various types of houses in the town reflect the different grades of worker. ie. they ranged from small terrace, standard brick built, through terraces with engineering bricks to large semi-detached houses with bigger gardens.
In its hey day 'The Works' extended from the Grand Union canal, near the railway station, to the traffic lights at the other end of Wolverton. A brick wall along the length of the area kept most of the buildings hidden. Only part of this wall is still intact, and can be seen to the right of the Main Entrance.
Until fairly recently 'The Works' hooter sounded to call workers back after their lunch break!! It is still sounded to mark the 2 minutes silence on Rememberance Sunday.

The Wolverton Bloomer was made by apprentices at 'The Works' in the 1990s & was originally located in Station Square, Central Milton Keynes. In 2006 it came back to Wolverton for maintenance work. When work is complete it will then be sited in the rose garden, adjoining the Works entrance - hopefully by the end of the year.

As this is a Letterbox Hybrid, you will need a piece of paper/card or book to take a copy of the stamp!!
Please leave stamp & inkpad in the cache container, Thanks.
Other items may be traded as usual.

To reach the start of the cache you will need to park, hopefully, in one of the streets opposite; find some numbers & substitute them for the letters A - J to find the final co-ordinates. Happy Hunting!

until work finished on Towpath.
Please remove & replace carefully to preserve the camouflage. Thanks, Rose
