Geocache Description:

The terrain is in the woods. It is steep in some places.

Welcome to the scenic Duck River, if you've managed to miss it before now. At 270 miles long it is the longest river entirely in Tennessee. It begins at Manchester in Southern Middle Tennessee and empties into the Tennessee river near where this cache is. If you have time to check it out, just down the road is the natural curiosity from which the area and the cache gets its name--Paint Rock. About 50 feet above the water it has a figure of a half moon and seven stars believed to have been carved into the rock by Native Americans living in the area before settlers. This was later painted, possibly by DeSoto's troops, thus the name. The coordinates for the actual paint rock are: 36° 02.619 N and 87° 52.021W.
