And So It Begins... Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

The Fej: No idea when I would be able to make it out there to check on this one. I'll consider it gone and archive it.

Geocache Description:

Located in a lesser-known area of Jefferson Memorial Forest called Moremans Hill. This area is undeveloped but permissible to enter and hike. There is no official parking area for Moremans Hill, although there is a legal parking area you can hike in from (see below).

This one, located at I guess what one would call the trailhead for this area, is more of a cache designed to bring cachers to the Moremans Hill area and show you the best way to access the caches in this area, which is the trail you will be on when you find this cache.

Start by following the trail above the railroad tracks around to the back of the ridge. This trail will bring you to a Jefferson Memorial Forest sign. Hmm..."Prohibited: Alcohol, Motorized Off-Road Vehicles, Bicycles, and Hunting". Doesn't say anything about Geocaching!

If you plan on doing the other caches in this area, this should be the first one you come across. Follow the trail you're on up the ridge and to the other caches.

The closest legal place to park I have found is in The Woods of Glen Hill Manor Apartment complex (see parking coords). To get there from Dixie Hwy., turn onto Valley Station Rd. and follow to Grafton Hall Rd. Turn right onto Grafton Hall Rd. and follow to the end, then take a left onto Glen Hill Manor Drive. Apartment complex will be down about 1/4 of a mile on your right. Park at the end of the apartments on Bold Forbes Blvd. This will put you about 0.28 miles (that's less than three-tenths of one mile, not 28 miles) away from this cache. Follow the trail beside the dumpster down then do your best "Stand By Me" (the movie) impression while heading towards the I-265 overpass. This is an active railroad line, so stay off the tracks! You will pick up the aforementioned trail after you walk under the I-265 overpass. This is as close as I have found to park without having to bushwack or park illegally elsewhere. If you are uncomfortable taking this approach, please feel free to look for another place to park and hike in. If you do find another place to park and hike in, please let me know where and how so I can check it out.

You are looking for an asprin bottle wrapped in black electrical tape (yeah well, it was all I had handy at the time, and I had to camo it somehow). Contains only a logsheet, bring your own pen or pencil.
