Geocache Description:

******NEWLY UPDATED TO A FIELD PUZZLE 12/8/18*******

This is a mystery cache located at Crowly and is not at the coordinated listed on this page. The listed coordinates are actually for the parking area at Crowley.

The sounds of a Florida fox squirrel rustling thru the brush attracts your attention away from the butterflies fluttering along the boardwalk. The soft touch of a fresh breeze whispers in your ears as you climb the steps of the observation tower to absorb the view of flowers extending towards the horizon before you. Dreaming of a great nature get-away? Not at all. Just taking in the sights and sounds of the Crowley Museum and Nature Trails while seeking the group of caches that will get you the coords for this bonus cache, The Call of Crowley.

There are several other caches placed with the full approval of Bonnie Greenball, the Executive Director of the facility. If you have not visited this location before it is treat for those who appreciate the “real” Florida, those who enjoy learning about the history of the Gulf Coast of Florida, nature lovers, and those of us who contain all those attributes.

Crowley Museum and Nature Trails is a 185 acre facility is located in the Old Myakka area and contains 1-1/2 miles of hiking trails that move you from pine flatwoods, thru oak hammocks, along swamp lands, thru a marsh along the Myakka River, up an observation tower and much of it along a wooden boardwalk. The trails remain open throughout the year and the boardwalk moves you safely over all wetlands. You can read all about Crowley by clicking HERE

The hours at Crowley are Thursday thru Sunday from 10 am until sundown. They are closed
Easter, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Admission is $5 for Adults, $2 for Kids 3–12 and active military are free with ID. It is well worth the admission which supports Crowley and all its' programs. Also, if you happen by here on a day they and not normally open we would suggest giving them a call as if they are at the facility they will open it for visitors :O)

This and the series of caches here were placed with the full approval of Laney Poire, the Executive Director of the facility. If you have not visited this location before it is treat for those who appreciate the “real” Florida, those who enjoy learning about the history of the Gulf Coast of Florida, nature lovers, and those of us who contain all those attributes.

Plenty of parking for Crowley is located at N27 18.646 W82 15.645 (the listed coords) and the entrance can be found at the coordinates for Crowley’s Treasure GCXAY5, a little micro that can show you where Crowley is and bring you here if you can’t make it during hours of operation. Crowley's Treasure does not contain any hints for this series. The office at Crowley has a shop where you can stock up with some water and supplies.

Start your journey by visiting the main office and get a trail map, wildlife information and information on all the trails and exhibits there which include a pioneer cabin, a museum of early Florida rural history, a fully functional blacksmith shop, a schoolhouse, a sugar cane mill and the 1889 Tatum House.

This used to be a bonus cache but due to the issues maintaining all the individual caches here this was changed to a field puzzle. Now you have some work to do during your visit in order to find this cache. You will need to visit the main park area to locate this information and you'll have to be observant so get to work
