Description:
Located very close to Fausto Gonzalez Hut in the south face of Pico de Orizaba (highest mountain in Mexico). The elevation is about 15,400 feet (4,693 meters). You can get the cache in one day if you set off early, however, it's highly recommended to spend an extra day to get acclimatized, and also with that that extra day you can enjoy this wonderful place.
To get there, you can start from Esperanza Puebla, go to Atztizintla, then Texmalaquilla (last town), follow the route towards Sierra Negra Telescope and take the route to Fausto Gonzalez Hut, if you go by car you have to leave it at certain point; having a 4x4 vehicle is going to get you closer, even with a good approach you must hike at least 1 hour. By foot from Sierra Negra (Telescope) junction you must strenuously hike around 4 hours.
Go with proper hiking footwear, proper layering system clothing, gloves, sun protection, enough food and water. Important note, if you want to climb all the way to the top (18,890 feet) you must have specialized equipment, mountaineering experience, a mountain guide and you have to be in a very good shape, if you lack of one of this, don’t take that risk, people die trying.
Bring a good replacement cache and make sure to place the cache firmly, and the most important thing, have fun!!!

Descripción:
Localizado cerca del Albergue Fausto González en la cara sur de Pico de Orizaba, la montaña más alta en México a una elevación de 4,690 metros sobre el nivel del mar.
Es posible llegar al cache en un solo día si sales temprano, sin embargo, es altamente recomendado estar 2 días para conseguirlo, de ese modo te aclimatas, disfrutarás la naturaleza y de los paisajes que ofrece el Pico.
Para llegar allí puedes empezar desde Esperanza en Puebla, de ahí ve a Atztizintla, luego a Texmalaquilla (último poblado), sigue la ruta hacia la Sierra Negra (Telescopio) y toma la desviación al Albergue Fausto González, si vas en automóvil lo vas a tener que dejar en algún punto, un vehiculo 4x4 te podría acercar más, aun así debes caminar por lo menos 1 hora. Si lo haces a pie desde la desviación con Sierra Negra te espera una caminata demandante de 4 horas.
Trae botas adecuadas, ropa en sistema de capas, guantes, protección para el sol, suficiente agua y comida. Nota importante, si deseas subir hasta la cima (5,760 msnm) debes tener equipo especializado, experiencia en alta montaña, un guía de montaña y muy buena condición, si te falta uno de estos elementos no te arriesgues, gente pierde sus vidas intentándolo.
Trae un buen cache para reemplazar el anterior y asegúrate de ponerlo firmemente y lo más importante de todo esto, diviértete!!!
