The Old Man | Returns Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

seldom|seen: I could have simply modified this one to account for muggling, but I liked the idea of offering a new find for all the salty dogs from the early days of my caching career. Look for the new cache to show up any time now.

Geocache Description:

Every cache in the Old Man series requires you to muster up just a little bit of inner resolve and go for it. Some might even consider them dangerous. If you are not comfortable with their retrieval, take someone along who is or just take them off of your to-do list.

The Old Man and the River is back! He was hanging on by a thread there for a while but we've managed to resuscitate him and prevent him from going a full six feet under.

Difficulty is based on finding parking in the area (which can be tricky if the 2 stall parking lot on Memorial is occupied) the path to get to the cache and the location of the cache itself.

There is a trailhead located at N44 15.100 W88 24.959 which will take you down a steep slope, where once there were steps. I do not recommend attempting this cache during rainfall or immediately after as you would be sliding down the trail on your backside, which I have done on a couple of occasions. Even on dry days getting down (and especially up) can be a challenge. I would encourage you to go down the slope under the bridge were large boulders will help you stay upright.

The former cache was an ammo can placed by Jerryskids and was named for an older man who was seen canoeing near the shoreline on early Sunday afternoons.

Don't forget to look for the Old Man's Tackle when you're down there.
