Geocache Description:

terrain based on ducking and climbing/walking over storm debris. Please do not post any spoiler info, just share your adventure!

Night...the time when stars shine and creatures are free to wander. Night is also the time to find this cache.

Just remember, there's no need to be afraid of strange noises in the night. Anything that intends you harm will stalk you silently.

First, you must prepare for the journey into the darkness!

  • A companion for safety, to cling to, or to outrun depending on the circumstances
  • strong flashlight w/ spare batteries (LED is highly recommended)
  • a spare flashlight
  • GPSr w/ spare batteries
  • appropriate clothing
  • Pen and paper
  • Cell phone
  • optional eye protection
  • bug repellent if needed
  • Strong will to survive

There are two possible parking/entry points

  1. a small gated road off Nels St. cutting a small distance off the walk.  46° 59.217 / 122° 59.375
  2. around the corner to the left by some utility boxes. Enter the trail directly next to the Stop sign. 46° 59.121 / 122° 59.375

Both converge at a small cleared area that is considered the starting point.
Stealth Fire Tacks®will be your guide this evening. They are used to help avoid theft of tacks and to frustrate anyone who may attempt this in the day. The best method is to hold the flashlight at eye level to see the reflectors. Not doing so will make this cache nearly impossible to find . Do bring your GPSr to track your path (bread crumbs) should you need it to return and don't forget to mark the location of your vehicle. While taking this journey into these dark woods, your first seeking 4 film cans that will help you on the final cache.

Three tacks indicate micro below in a close proximity.

Two means something is watching you!

Write down any information you may find, and follow any directions given. Be sure nothing is sneaking up on you while your doing this! The first film can is where the two trails converge to get you going. Then in intervals, hopefully not guarded by anything with lots of fur and fangs or a large machete, you'll find the next 3.  Once you've reached the 4th wp, Look around carefully for the reflectors beyond that will continue till you reach the last set of three red tacks. After you find the final, Do Not Backtrack , there are more Fire Tacks® continuing onward to lead you back to the main trail.  Once there, one tack will get you started back toward your vehicle, but none after that for the return trip. Hopefully your not running from something.

Bring your goodies, your bravery, and your laughs......Have Fun!!

And good luck.........muwhahahahaaaaa

*****WARNING & DISCLAIMER*****

Nature is unpredictable and unsafe. Woods are dangerous. Many books have been written about these dangers, and there's no way we can list them all here. Read the books.
By entering the Wicked Woods, you are agreeing that we owe you no duty of care or any other duty. We promise you nothing. We do not, and will not, even try to keep the premises safe for any purpose. The premises are not safe for any purpose. This is no joke. We won't even try to warn you about any dangerous or hazardous condition, whether we know about it or not. If we do decide to warn you about something, that doesn't mean we will try to warn you about anything else. If we do make an effort to fix an unsafe condition, we may not try to correct any others, and we may make matters worse! We may do things that are unwise and dangerous. Sorry, we're not responsible. We may give you bad advice. Don't listen to us.

This inaccurate website is based on dim recollections, half-baked guesses, gossip, blind speculation, and outright lies. In NO WAY does it tell the full story. You would probably be better off just trying to find your own way through the woods, than you would be if you used information gathered from this page. But that statement in no way implies that I am in any way responsible if you don't use the information I give you here, and something bad happens anyway.

The areas depicted by this page have loose, slippery and unstable footing. The weather can make matters worse. Sheer drops are everywhere. You may fall, be injured or die. There are hidden holes. You could break your leg. There are overhanging outcroppings and low-growing tree branches where you could bump your head . There are wild animals, which may be vicious, poisonous, hungry or carry dread diseases. These may include poisonous amphibians, reptiles, and insects; insects to which you have allergies, or whose multiple stings can cause anaphylactic shock; mammals which may include skunks, badgers, marmots, lions, tigers, and bears; predatory birds, and all other manner of beasts. Plants can be poisonous as well, and even when not poisonous, can inflict serious injury like a sharp stick in the eye. Mushrooms growing in those areas are very likely extremely poisonous. This website, and the author of this page, will not do anything to protect you from any of this. I do not inspect, supervise or maintain the ground, rocks, cliffs, wildlife, vegetation or other features, natural or otherwise.

In short, ENTER AND USE THE WICKED WOODS AT YOUR OWN RISK. And have fun!
