the cache is located along a rural road a few miles NW of yuba city. you will notice an old structure with the date "1939" etched on it.
in 1939 80% of our population had a radio. people liked listening to the big bands, such as benny goodman, duke ellington, and glenn miller. two very successful movies debuted: gone with the wind, and the wizard of oz. notable show-biz people born that year were james caan, peter fonda, and frances ford coppola. the nobel prize went to ernest lawrence for building the cyclotron. the yankees beat the reds in the world series, and lou gehrig made his heartfelt retirement speech. sadly, tho, the most historical event which occurred in 1939 was germany's invasion of poland which started WWII.
