Geocache Description:

Cache is located about a mile from the parking area. It is an ammo can located right off the main walk area. The only hard part should be walking there - a straight, flat walk in this area of the "trail". Do not cross any fences, it is not on private property. Area open 7am-7pm only! Visit my other caches in area - see bookmark listing on the right side of this screen.

The cache is located in the Moccasin Island Track (PDF Map available Here). This is a beautiful wilderness area off the end of Wickham Road in Viera. When placing the cache I didn't see but much wildlife, but you might see any of these - snakes, hawks, multiple songbirds types, beautiful wading birds, fancy ducks, large turkeys, gators and of course much cattle (they sure seemed pretty wild).

Met many walker/hiker/biker folks while out in this area - it is a great place for all! While down near the St Johns River a couple of airboaters stopped to pass the time with us - more interesting stories about the area. The cache is located straight out from the parking lot, about a mile walk or bike ride. If you really want to have a nice time, continue on the hike out to a loop along the St Johns River. At one point you walk through a beautiful oak hammock. There also is a "good old boy" shelter with picnic tables to have a nice lunch. The complete hike around the entire south trail was 7.82 miles. There is another trail to the north that has an observation tower. The area is open from 7 to 7.

The cache is located in a non-hunting area, but if you continue on for the full hike you are entering a seasonal hunting area, so be aware of what is going on around you.

There is a road near the very end of Wickham Road that will lead you to the parking area. It passes through the Duda Sod Ranch, which is open to the public. It is a dirt road; the day the cache was placed it was a very smooth dirt road. This cache can be accessed using airboat, but it is a 2 mile hike from the river.
Parking coords are: N28 13.798 W80 48.665
