When I was growing up in this area, this property was a mystery
to most of us. There was a school here, but we couldn't attend. It
was only for girls who had gotten in trouble with the law. Across
the lake on Mercer Island was a similar facility for the boys. That
one is now a park as well and has a few caches. This school was
called Martha Washington and the one on Mercer Island was called
Luther Burbank. Both parks retain the original names.
While on a trip to Indianapolis recently, I found this container
in a cache there. The container was set up as a cache by Corp of
Discovery and so he gets credit as hider. The container is a
pre-form. When finished this would be a two liter bottle. Since it
only contains a log and a pencil, I listed it as a micro. It is
about six inches long and no more than one inch in diameter. I
don't think there will be too many trade items small enough to
fit.
Parking is available on the north and south sides of the park.
Do not park on the west side as that is posted. If you park on the
north side, there are a few stairs to get down to the cache area.
From the south side there is a gravel trail most of the way.
Congratulations to Funny Nose, The Mercury Project and Super
Dache for the co-FTF
Note added May 28, 2007 I replaced the container with a new one
since the original had gone missing. Since that was the link to
Corp of Discovery, I removed his name from the list of hiders. The
hint has been modified to reflect the new hide.
Note added July 16, 2010: I have moved the cache to a new
location near the old one and replaced the container with a DeCon.
Please remember the hear four clicks when closing the container to
make sure it is sealed.
