Geocache Description:

Nice, short walk on a wide flat area that leads to the trail for the cache. This one can be a little messy during wet weather.

This cache is hidden in an area not far from the road on Fort Hill Dr. The coordinates given are for a historical plaque giving details on Fort Scammon, from which this area received its name. You can park at the "Park and Ride" across the street to complete this entire cache hunt. Using the dates on the plaque, you can find the coordinates to the cache.

N 38 20.ABC
W 081 39.D
A = the month of the battle described
B = the day of the month minus the second number in the year
C = add the digits contained in the day of the battle
D = [(sq. root of the year built) X 3] +6

Once the hunt is over, I hope you decide to drive up to the top of the hill...there is an excellent view of Charleston. I have included a picture of my view when driving to work every morning.

*Note: the choice of route (high vs. low roads) will change the difficulty level, so choose wisely.
