Geocache Description:

Medieval town of Cherven

At about 30km from Ruse outside the main road.
Formely known as the "City of churches" or "City of bishops", Cherven was founded in the sixth or seventh century when recurrent barbarian invasions compelled the inhabitants of Ruse to seek a more defensible site inland.

There are good views of the Cherni Lom river and the rocks arond.

It can be difficult to get to Cherven without a private car.

The cache is a plastic container containing a logbook, pencil, a worry stone from Ireland, and bottle opener, whistle.
The cache is hidden in the Ordinary town of the fortress away from any ancient buildings (No.8 on the display maps in the ancient town).
Please do not look in the ancient buildings.
