Geocache Description:

Edit 10/19/15: The cache has been replaced with an all new container and fresh log book! Hopefully, this one will stay dry. Also, the park is putting in a disc golf course and has cleared a lot of brush and trees nearby, so this cache is even easier to get to!

We were approaching the 1 year mark since dpup77 and I first contacted each other thanks to the matchmaking by her aunt. While discussing what we could do for a long weekend for my first visit to see her in Jamestown, NY we discussed Geocaching. Neither of had ever done it but dpup77 had come across it when looking into Letterboxing which is a hobby of one of her sisters. Geocaching you say? As luck should have it I my dad had a GPS we could borrow so why not give it a shot?

On April 8th, 2006 we tried this new hobby and ended up having a great time. Our first cache was Panzarella Point Park Cache in Jamestown, New York.

Geocaching gave my host an opportunity to talk about her town as we drove from one cache to the next. We continued to geocache in both the Jamestown and Streetboro, OH areas as we visited each other in the following months. It turned out to be a great date activity as it got us outside, took us to places neither of us had been before and other than the initial GPS cost it was cheap!

In August of 2006 dpup77 decided to eliminate the distance between us and move to Ohio. While she was going through the process of finding a new job I wanted to give her something to let her know how much I appreciated her giving up everything to move here as well as how much I love her.

On December 11th, 2006 I mentioned to dpup77 while she was getting ready in the morning that I had noticed the previous night a new cache had been placed nearby and asked if she wanted to give it a try. Luckily she was up for a quick hike in the woods so I grabbed the GPS (which I told her I had already programmed the coordinates into) and we jumped in the car. The weather was cooperating thankfully and was cool with no wind. My fear was for it to be cold and/or raining/snowing which would have killed a good part of her enthusiasm for geocaching.

Dpup77 did all the navigating to the cache and found it pretty quickly. She had no idea what was afoot and even commented that the container and camouflage was just like the stuff we had at home. She commented that the container was much too light so I had to prompt her to open it up. Inside she found a note that ended with the question "Will You Marry Me?" At that time I produced the ring, got on one knee and asked her to marry me.

She Said Yes

I'm happy to add this token of our engagement into the Geocaching cache collection for others to find. We would love to have others share pictures and stories too.
