This is my first cache. I was inspired by other interesting multi-part caches. Take your time and walk the entire trail. It is only about 3/4's of a mile long. The final stage is near the actual battlefield of the Battle of Raymond. This battle sealed the fate of Jackson. The aprox. 2500 Confederates(mostly Texans) led by Brig. Gen. John Gregg, formed a line along Fourteen Mile Creek and held back 2 entire Yankee Divisions(aprox. 12,000 men) for over 4 hours. After the Confederate retreat, Gen. Grant was sure that there had been 1 or 2 Confederate Divisions fighting there that day. He could not turn back west for Vicksburg with that many enemy troops at his back. Gen. Grant sent Sherman's XV Corps to Jackson, not realizing that Confederate Gen. Johnston had ordered the evacuation of Jackson. With only small amounts of troops left in Jackson, Sherman seized it with little trouble. After taking what supplies his troops could find, he set fire to Jackson, causing the city to earn its nickname of "Chimmneyville".

Do I really have to say it? Well....I guess that it would only be right.

Congratulations to Amagrud for FTF.
