This cache is located in the Lee F. Jackson Spring Creek Forest Preserve. GraphicMan and I were just out here caching the other day and thought this would be a terrific place for our first cache. This is a climax forest with some trees that are estimated to be 300 to 500 years old. This is the only known location in the world where eight species of oaks are found growing together in the same ecosystem.
This park really is unique, so do respect the flower and fauna here and try not to trample anything. Please stay on the cement path until you are at a right angle to the cache and proceed into the woods (should be about 50 feet). The new container is a little different from the old one. I found most of the original but it will take time to fully reconstruct the the original host. In the meantime, enjoy the new one and do take note that the log is in a smaller container inside the outer container. There are a couple of un-activated CITO coins in the new log container, so please only take one - I'll edit this once the coins have been taken and activated.
