Bears Head Fire Tower Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: Hello,

As there's been no response to my earlier note, I am forced to archive this listing.

If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the near future, just contact me email, including the GC Code, and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Thanks,
-OReviewer

Geocache Description:

Cache is a larger sized Ammo Can Located near the Bears Head Fire Tower.

The Bears Head Fire Tower is the highest point in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. From this point the towns of Sheppton and McAdoo can be seen. Also, Blue Mountain Ski Area can be seen from here with binoculars and I believe you can even see the Deleaware Water Gap on a clear day. Be sure to bring the camera and binoculars for this one. The gate near the entrance to this cache at my Junior #19 cache is sometimes unlocked during hunting season, don't forget your orange during hunting season. A normal car can make the drive to the tower, however if the gate is locked it is a 0.9 mi hike up the road to the cache, unless you can find the back 4x4 roads that will get you somewhat closer than the 0.9 miles. Should you park at the gate and make the hike please don't block the gate. Beware of the muggle in the tower during the fire season (Spring after the snow is melted but before there is canopy cover and in the fall after the leaves have fallen and before the first snowfall). The cache contains some odd but useful items, and a FTF small cache container prize ready for placement.
