Geocache Description:

The cache is located in one of Wisconsin's "best" state parks - the Richard Bong State Recreation Area. There is over 4,500 beautiful acres out here folks (a Geocacher's dream!) and there is over 40 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, horseback riding, and ATV riding! A recreation area differs from a state park or forest in that it offers additional activities not traditionally found in state parks. Appropriate to its name, Richard Bong SRA also offers an area where visitors may fly model airplanes, hang gliders, hot air balloons, and launch rockets (I always wanted to be one of those "scientists."). Bong has space to train both hunting and sled dogs, train falcons, and hunt (seasonal). All such activities take place in the special use zone or managed hunt areas. There is also a "free" museum here, which details the history of Bong and showcases the animals that live here.

There is a park admission fee of $7 a car for Wisconsin residents (bring your friends or family), $10 a car for non-residents, or it's free if you have a Wisconsin State Park vehicle tag on your car. The park is open from 6 AM until 11 PM (nice for you night hunters). Park at the Trail's Head Parking lot, which is at these coordinates: N42 38.047 W088 07.458. Trail maps are available on the outside of the main building on the way here.

The cache is located off the beautiful 4.4 miles Yellow Trail. Follow the yellow markers from the parking lot. You don't have to hike the entire trail to find the cache. It's actually pretty close to the parking area, as are most of my other caches here are (so far). But, if you do hike this trail, you'll experience, grassland, woodland, and wetland on your journey. Distance from the parking lot to the cache is about .14 of a mile. The cache is hidden about 400 feet off the trail. Yep…probably a tad of bushwhacking, depending on the time of year. There are other close-by caches hidden out here, too!

You are looking for a 50-caliber military ammo box. Early finders may find some good stuff! Bring some trade items and something to write with to sign the log.

"Yellow" things you may encounter on your journey:
· Yellow-headed Blackbird.
· Yellow Cone Flowers.
· Yellow-bellied Sapsucker.
· Yellow-shafted Flicker.
· Yellow Jackets.
· Yellow Warbler.
· Yellow-eyed Grass.
· Yellow Legs.
· Common Yellow Throat.
· Yellow-breasted Chat.
· Yellow Snow (seasonal).

The Geocache Notification Form has been submitted to the Richard Bong State Recreation Area and approved by Superintendent Laura van Slyke.
