Easy walk out 1.31 miles from the parking lot - all sunny, so maybe hot in the summer - took me 26 minutes. It is located on the public access, do not cross any fences on to private property. Cache is now a camo bison tube hung in the tree. Area open 7am-7pm only! Visit my other caches in area - see my bookmark listing on the right side of this screen.
The cache is located in the Moccasin Island Track (PDF Map available Here). This is a beautiful wilderness area off the end of Wickham Road in Viera. There is a 1.31 miles hike up the north trail to the cache. I walked out to the Observation Platform which is about 1.5 miles pass the cache - it is very nice out there. While hiking out to the observation platform I saw a variety of wildlife, which included snakes, hawks, multiple songbird types, beautiful wading birds, fancy ducks and gators.
Met many walker/hiker/biker folks while out in this area - it is a great place for all! This is a great cache to access on a bike. The complete hike out and back on the north trail to the observation tower is about 5.5 miles. The area is open from 7 to 7.
The cache is located in a non-hunting area, but if you continue up to the observation platform you do enter a seasonal hunting area, so be aware of what is going on around you.
To get to the parking area, there is a road near the very end of Wickham Road that will lead you to it. It passes through the Duda Sod Ranch, which is open to the public. It is a dirt road; the day the cache was placed it was very smooth. This cache can be accessed using airboat/boat if wanted - tie-up at the observation platform located on the canal next to SJR.
