Geocache Description:

This is one of Daisy's favorite places to come and play.

There are three ways to get here that I can think of. Two of them are nice, but little known trails. The third is a downhill bushwhack. Your choice.

Cachers will be pleasantly surprised by this little known view of Alpine Lake. Daisy and I spent many hours studying here when I was in school. This is such a nice spot, that we still come here often.

This spot is very different in summer and winter, due to varying lake levels. In the winter, the lake rises to within 30 feet of the pad. In summer, there are expansive beaches to play on.

The cache is an ammo box, filled with toys and things that Daisy would like to play with. There is a pic of Daisy inside the box too.

Cachers looking for a longer hike could do a nice loop and nab Birthday Bash, and Azalea Hill.

The cache itself should be a relatively easy find, once you get there. It's about the journey and enjoying the view. The hint is a spoiler.

March 8, 2007-
Based on the comments of a couple of cachers, I'm adding a couple of additional hints. There are established-- if little used --trails that lead right to the cache area. No need to bushwhack. It is a great area that few explore.

If you drive to the nearest GPS point from your car, you'll need to bring a machete and/or snorkel for bushwhacking and/or swimming to get there (both are illegal here).

I would recommend starting from one of three places:
a) Azalea Hill parking lot. Hillier, but you'll be able to get great views and grab a couple of nearby caches. No need to bushwhack, you can follow established, if little used trails.

b) Bon Tempe Dam parking lot. Flatter, and you'll get to explore a side of Alpine lake that few ever see. In winter/spring, you'll have to figure out where to cross the creek. Follow the shoreline till you pick up some old abandoned roads not on current maps...
c) Along Fairfax-Bolinas road ( ~4/10 mile west of Azalea Hill). There is an abandoned logging road that runs parallel to the road. It will take a short but steep downhill loose gravelly scramble. It's pretty cool though. It's a trail that is still in common use, but that few know about. Again, not on any current map.

Happy caching.
