Geocache Description:

This traditional cache is located in a fairly well traveled area. To get to the starting point, get on Highway 61 and turn in on Onion River road (gravel) thats just a few miles north of Tofte. Turn in on the road and follow it, staying to the left, till you get to the Oberg Mountain Trailhead. Parking is fairly ample. Start your hike at the Oberg Mountain Trailhead. The trail is fairly well worn in and there are only a few rocky areas. You do gain some altitude but not much.

*If you have kids with you, keep them close by at any of the overlooks you may pass.*

This cache has a North Shore Geology Theme to it hence the name. The cache itself is an army ammo box. Within it are things relating to the geology of the north shore area. The original contents include:

A small notebook with pencil.
A bag of Thomsonite or close cousin
A bag of Lake Superior Agates
A bag of Anorthosite
A bag of Basalt
A bag of Rhyolite
A bag of Calcite
A book explaining north shore geology and desriptions of all the rocks in the cache (Feel free to read but please don't take)
A Jeep Travel Bug
A bag of surprise rocks from Canada

When you find the cache, PLEASE only take one or two rocks TOTAL from the bags. Don't take the whole bag. You can use the book to read about your new rock but please don't take it.

The cache has been placed in a way that searchers shouldn't leave any noticable signs of being there. Please try your best to not trample any vegetation or break any branches while on the search for the cache. When you find it, romove it carefully and then place it back EXACTLY as you found it. There are some wooden pegs in the ground that keep the container from moving so place it back in front of the pegs and replace the object that blocks it from view back as well.

Please don't tell where the cache is in your log. Thanks.

After finding the cache, enjoy the view and feel free to walk the rest of the loop. Good hunting.
