Welcome to our first cache. We are a grade seven/eight class at the Ottawa Waldorf School in Stittsville, Ontario. An avid GPSer and parent from the school, Griffindog, has helped us get started on this new adventure for the class. The unique thing about our cache location is that this same class in grade 3/4 built a large teepee in the woods, walking distance from the school. Over the years the area has been developed with new homes but our teepee is still there. In a Waldorf School the grade school teacher begins with a group of children in grade one and continues with that group of children until he or she graduates them in grade eight. So we decided to see if the teepee was still there as well as the bones from a deer skeleton that the children had discovered on one of our ventures to the site, and sure enough everything was still there. This brought back great memories for the students and myself. So here we are hiding our first cache at this memorable site. We hope you like it and we will see how long it remains until the developers get to "our neck of the woods."
Our cache is a round, black, plastic container with duct tape on it.
The trade items it contains are: 10 hair elastics, 1 highlighter, a wind-up tractor, and army truck, a toy soldier, a TY beanie cat, a block puzzle, a pocket calendar, 2 candles, 2 Canadian flag pins, a green plastic duck, a beaded lizard keychain, a zebra marble, a bouncey ball and a rubber ant.
It also contains a couple of brochures about our school if you are interested in knowing more about one type of alternative education, and it contains Maynard the Wine Loving Moose--Griffindog brought him along to place in our cache.
