Welcome to Tiger Brook Park. There used to be a cache in this area called N.J. State Symbols #4. I "adopted" it, but the cache wound up being archived anyway. So I'm back to place another cache in the area. In October 2012, Superstorm Sandy hit New Jersey. We know that lots of trees fell down during the storm, but this particular area was probably hit with a micro burst, and the forest looks like a bomb went off here. Literally, most of the trees were felled. However, nature always provides, and heals itself. While placing this cache, I heard, and saw that a pair of red-tail hawks have built a nest in one of the trees damaged here!
As you come down the Purple Trail (more like a gravel road) from the parking lot found on Cooper Lane, you will see a small trail bearing off to the left. Follow this path to the end. You're looking for a camouflaged bison tube. BYOP please. Log only. You'll see some of the damage that Hurricane Sandy did in this park. No need to go off the path at all for this cache. No bushwacking needed at all. Congratulations to MetsFanInNJ on the FTF on this brutally hot & humid day. Well done!!!
