Beside you, the River Dove dominates the landscape and economy of the area. Extensive flood plain from this vast ex-glacial valley have enabled highly productive livestock farming since Saxon times – you can probably see some right now in this or a nearby field!
The far bank is Derbyshire, and this side is Staffordshire.
