In September 1932 the Buck Peak Lookout was constructed. It was a 21-foot tower. The lookout cab was a model L-4A 14x14 foot with a hip roof. It served as a lookout until 1968 when it was no longer needed and burned by the Forest Service. Photo is circa 1940.
This old lookout site is located off the Clover Creek Road on the road towards Clover Creek Trailhead. About 2 miles up the road take Road 190 to the right. Continue going to the right and you will start climbing through the timber to the top of the mountain. Most of this road is in good condition except for the last 200'. If you are adventuresome and have a high clearance rig you can drive right to the top!
The cache is located near where the tower stood. The footings are gone, but we did find some burned timbers. You are looking for a regular size waterproof container with some trade items and a log. Please rehide well so muggles visiting the site will not discover it.
