Geocache Description:

Quick tourist friendly grab located along a riverside bike trail near the base of the Duquesne Incline with a really cool view of the point, the three rivers, downtown Pittsburgh, and Heinz Stadium.

This cache replaces the archived Big Wheels Keep on Turning cache (GC3DVW6) which honored the river stern-wheelers. Rivers have historically been the life blood of the nation's interior. The joining of the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers to form the Ohio River is instrumental to the formation and history of Pittsburgh. One of the most picturesque means of travel and transportation along the river was via stern-wheelers. This cache pays tribute to these ships.

The previous cache was hidden "under" the stern-wheel which decorated the bike trail. With construction of the trail, the sternwheel has moved and is now behind a fence. It may or may not yet move again as construction continues. Rather than waiting, we have placed a new cache... a large one at that, near the current location of the stern-wheel and close to another key Pittsburgh mode of travel.. the Duquesne Incline. We hope that such a large cache near downtown will be a popular destination for visitors to our fine city. It's size will also allow it to serve as a nice resting place for trackables!

You are looking for a camo'd large "pretzel-like" container hidden behind a large "rock". Handy (and now unfortunately only sometimes free) parking is available at the base of the Duquesne Incline (see waypoint below). Please exercise stealth and replace the container equal to or better than found to allow others the fun of coming to this spot. Feel free to post pictures of yourselves and/or the view but please do not show the hiding spot. Enjoy!

Congrats to RICK+REESII Dog for the FTF!
