Geocache Description:

Located at Hannigans Gap in the Central Flinders Ranges, can accessed via Parachilna Gorge, Glass Gorge and PAR No. 5 (to Patawarta Gap) or via Blinman to Artimore H.S. ruins via PAR No. 4.

Placed this cache in a beautiful spot we stopped at for morning tea whilst travelling with our "Old Boy" Rover Scout friends and families. We were staying at Angorichina Village, checked our maps and planned a trip using these Public Access Routes (PAR).

This is a remote area 4WD trip, between Hannigans Gap and Artimore H.S. ruins, to quote "crossings and washouts are common" and that 7km took our 6 car convoy 2 hours! The clockwise loop from Angorichina and back via Blinman totalled 85km.

The scorpion was given naming honour when Dave, helping us prepare the hide site and was about to say "you should take care when turning over rocks" to our English visitor/import (Paul), uncovered our large arachnid friend.

The cache is a white 1lt screw-top container with the usual notebook & pen, harmonica, rubber snakes, mini-compass carabineer and other stuff.

PARs are listed on a great brochure/map "4WD Tracks & Repeater Towers" and the "Flinders Ranges and Outback South Australia" visitor information guide. We also recommend a feral meal at the Prairie Hotel at Parachilna too.

Our party got there and back again in the 'scargoes Challenger, "Pasties" Paj', Rockys Rodeo, “Shopping Trolley” Paj’, Philby's Forester! and Dave's Old Jack(eroo).
