Geocache Description:

The Black Ash tree is a northern species and has a preference for cold, wet areas that have poor drainage. There is a small creek nearby this location and many of these trees grow well here. Cache is not far off the trail - check out the signage as you stroll the nice path.

The Lee-Kay Family Educational County Forest is provided for your enjoyment by John and Mary Heisler of Fond du Lac, WI. They donated the forest to the citizens of Pierce County to share the family stewardship of the property with future generations. The vision of this forest property is to provide public recreation land for outdoor recreational activities and serve as an outdoor classroom for forestry educational instruction. Over 15 different species of trees have been identified along the hiking trail through this 40 acre parcel – take time to read the signs as they provide some interesting tidbits of information. Plenty of wildlife can be seen throughout this area as well.

Nice parking is available. Please note the forest area is open sunrise to sunset only. Enjoy!
