Croom A Loop Multi Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Postpile: Archiving this one with mixed feelings. I do not get out this way hiking as much as I used to. Came out today and everything was in great shape. However the deer stand 60 feet from the final and less than great coordinates convinced me to remove this the first cache that I placed. Coordinates were obtained with my old Magellan Meridian Gold, not as accurate as today's Garmin models. Today I had a few stages 50 feet off. I still have the Magellan and even have another, (brand new Meridian Gold still in the box that I purchased when they were discontinued).

Anyway I removed all evidence of each stage and the final, carried out all the materials. It was a nice run, but it averaged less than three finds per year, with the last real find being in April of 2013. Thanks to those that visited.

Geocache Description:

This multicache will take you along the Florida Trail around the "A Loop" in Croom. There is a fee of $2.00 per person at the parking area.

Cache consists of 6 small stages and the final which is a standard ammo can. The route is fairly easy to follow. Begin on the orange blazed hiking trail on the north side of the road. Follow the orange blazes north, east then south and return along the blue blazed cross trail. Total hike is around 7.5 miles. The Florida Trail is limited to FOOT TRAFFIC ONLY. Horses and bikes are NOT allowed on this trail. I have placed the stages so that it can also be done via the established bike trails (dirt trails) with virtually no backtracking. For bikers begin on the yellow bike trail which is located just east of the hiking trail. Eventually you will need to cross over to the blue bike trail then back to the yellow bike trail to finish. The bike route is substantially longer than the hiking route. All stages are placed with 500 feet of both the hiking and the biking trails. In other words….DO NOT BIKE ON THE HIKING TRAIL. Individual stages are all camouflaged with natural materials. This area is open to hunting, hopefully camouflage will keep the stages from being disturbed. PLEASE replace the camouflage to cover the containers. Most stages are located under heavy tree canopy, therefore do not expect the coordinates to be extremely accurate. Each of the first six stages are placed in a holder. Please be sure to replace exactly as found. Enjoy the scenery. Between stages 2 and 3 you will climb a mountain (Florida style). Between stages 3 and 4 you will be at PEACE. Between stages 4 and 5 you will be able to look down into the depths of the earth. Be sure to bring lots of water, sunscreen and bug spray. Happy hunting.

2012-2013 hunt dates listed here. (visit link) .

The container at stage 4 has been on the ground twice. I have tightened the holder; please push the container securely into its holder.

Update 12/31/12: Cache container at stage 6 has recently been out of its holder several times. Stage 6 has been moved to a new location on the same tree. Final cache was moved slightly. Coordinates for this cache were originally obtained with a Magellan Meridian Gold in 2006, they are not extremely accurate. Be prepared to expand your search area.
