Geocache Description:

nfp

The Red-shouldered Hawk may be seen year-round in the southern half of Michigan and breeding only in the northern region. Deforestation and forest fragmentation don’t work in favor of this species. Habitat loss is the greatest threat facing them, but thankfully right now they’re still classified as species of least concern for how widespread they are across North America.

This Geocache is one of a series of six that were placed on the weekend celebrating the Hawks of Michigan. All caches are located close to a nature trail. Please remember to replace the containers the way you found them.

This cache is located within Lake Erie Metropark, a part of the Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority park system. A Metropark Vehicle Entry Permit is required: Annual Permit $40. Senior (62+) Permit $29. Daily Permit $10.
For General information please call 810-227-2752 800-47-PARKS. Or visit our website at WWW.metroparks.com.

All park rules and regulations apply. Park in parking lots only.
Dogs are NOT allowed in this section of the park.
VERY IMPORTANT: THE HOURS FOR LAKE ERIE METROPARK ARE 6 am to 10 p.m. Daily.

The permit for this cache was submitted prior to the 4/15/2021 deadline and was approved by Kevin Arnold | Southern District Interpretive Services Supervisor Huron-Clinton Metroparks on 04/08/21
